Yoga strengthens the muscles but it increases flexibility and lengthens the muscles at the same time. This results in long lean muscles. Will massage get rid of my cellulite? Massage drastically reduces the appearance of cellulite. By increasing the circulation and increasing lymphatic drainage the skin excess fluid is eliminated and the skin texture becomes smooth and radiant. Can I do yoga and have massage while I am pregnant? You can practice yoga and receive massage while you are pregnant unless you have complications in your pregnancy. Otherwise both of these practices are healthy for you and the baby and usually result in an easier delivery. Please tell your massage therapist if you are pregnant. Because we use potent aromatherapy oils in our massages we will adjust your formula to choose safe oils for pregnancy. Also we will avoid certain acupressure points that are known to cause uterine contractions. You can be safely massaged through the entire 9 months but the therapist must know about your pregnancy to make the necessary modifications. For yoga during pregnancy, please see our handout on pregnancy recommendations for yoga during pregnancy, click here. Will I be completely undressed for massage? You will be covered by a full sheet the entire massage and only the area being worked on will be exposed. We are professional with the draping techniques, providing you privacy in a secure environment. That said, you may remove as much clothing as you feel comfortable with. Most people are comfortable removing everything, however some people keep their undergarments on. How often should I have massage? Every case is individual. If you are experiencing an acute problem then you may want to do 3-4 session within a shot timeframe such as weekly for 3 sessions. If you are receiving massage for the health and beauty benefits or for routine maintenance to relax and de-stress, then a monthly massage is the most common. You may have to play with your schedule to see what works best for you. Some people can stay pain free, headache free with a monthly massage, others find a month is a bit too long and they schedule every 3 weeks to avoid problems from tension and stress.
